Faculty of Engineering<University of Ruhuna organized eFOR 2010,a robot competition.Schools from Southerns province participated for this event and we would like to alarm that vidyaloka college won First Place.
The winning team donated their prize of 3000LKR as books for the sake of Science Library.We would like to Congratulate to the wining team,The Principal,Science Section Teachers and Students for the Victory.

FROM HISTORY OF VIDYALOKA COLLEGE
Vidyaloka College is one of the respective national colleges in the national school system which was established on 14 Th of June in 1941. It was started as a small school with the guidance of reverend Velivitiya punnasaraMaha thera Who was the chief monk of Vidyaloka pirivena and with the support of Mr. Henura Wudward Amarasooriya who was famous as a great donator in Southern province.The purpose of starting this college was to provide English knowledge to the poor children in Galle district that was very necessary to face future challenges.
Mr. H.W Amarasooriya who was famous as a great donator guided the management of school to fulfill this great purpose. He was the manager of the school until under taking the school to the government. He built up the school from his own wealth.
When this school started, there were forty two students with two class rooms. In 1964,it had increased the number of students into 500 and there were twenty one teachers in the school.From 1941, the school was gradually developed. But unfortunately the college was affected by the Tsunami on 26th of Dec in 2004 and destroyed so many physical resources of the school and the biggest tragedy was loosing seven students lives in the school. But it could be rebuilt the college with in short time of period with
the cooperation of the principal staff the students, welfare associations. For that “Hydramoni” group of company and “Haro” college in London together helped to rebuild the physical resources of the college with more facilities. Vidyaloka college has taken forwards its vision and engaging in its duty of building
a perfect society for today as well as for tomorrow.
